Will didn’t instantly became a phenomenon when he left PBB but said he had no regrets for that
Half German and African-American Will Devaughn explained why he loves being in the Philippines despite having a low key showbiz career. He shared that he felt more at home in our country instead of abroad.
Will might not have any Filipino blood running through his veins, yet he’s proud to be a local actor. He said he has no plans of leaving town at all even if he decided to settle down with longtime girlfriend Roxanne Barcelo.
“Ang Pilipinas para sa akin it has the best of all worlds. It has the mountainous regions, the beach regions, kung gusto mong malamig punta ka ng Baguio. Tapos ang mga tao din dito napaka.. I see the potential of the Philippines.”
The 35-year-old actor first came to the country in 2006 as an aspirant model. He did commercials for Close Up, McDonalds, Jollibee, and Frenzy Condoms before he entered the “Pinoy Big Brother” reality TV show.
During his PBB days, Will had a difficult time learning the language. When asked if he has any regrets that time, also if only he knows how to talk like a real Filipino will he gain more fans, Will gave a simple response.
“Hindi eh. Let’s say, kung magaling akong mag Tagalog dati, for sure, we wouldn’t be here right now. For sure iba na ‘yung path ng buhay ko. For sure, iba talaga ‘yung daan ko.”
Honestly, Will talked about how contented he is with how his life is going so far.
“Masaya ako na hindi ako masyadong sikat because yung buhay ko very chill pa rin, steady lang.”
Will is currently busy with his upcoming Cinelokal (SM Cinemas) film “I Found My Love in Sta. Fe” with on/off screen partner Roxanne. They’re both co-producers of the movie that reportedly premieres on September 15.
