Remember Victor Basa? He was once the face behind your favorite TV shows and series such as “Walang Kapalit,” “May Bukas Pa,” “My Husband’s Lover,” “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real,” “Buena Familia,” and more.
We all know that he’s a very talented guy because his career path showed his potential as a bankable character actor. What we don’t know about him is that he too, had gone dark in his life.
Victor had an exclusive interview with The 700 Club Asia, known as CBN Asia’s flagship program that features true-to- life stories of people radically changed by Christ. He told things that fans never knew about him including his issues with his absentee father, his growing debts and his past drug addiction.
“‘Yung term na ‘one day millionaire,’ bili ka ng kotse, gimik ka, bili ka ng mga damit na magaganda.
And then after that, you realize, kasi siyempre, kailangan mo nang bayaran yung kotse, kailangan mo nang bayaran yung mga credit card bills.”
The actor also admitted to being involved in drugs. “I also started doing drugs, Kasi when you’re in that situation, parang okay lang, kasi everybody is doing it naman. Okay lang naman. I can control it.”
Victor revealed how he hopped from one relationship to another and sleeping around.
“‘Life’s good,’ yung and gusto mong iproject sa lahat.”
He had his turning point when a friend committed suicide. This is where Victor realized that he had to change as life is very short. He started doing triathlon and refrained from drinking.
A friend asked him about his faith and invited him to CCF. Victor’s life changed from then on. He started attending the church regularly and participating on ministries.
“I really think religiosity is what got me in the door, but it was the person of Christ that made me stay.”
