SKY, the country’s leading cable provider, will bring the ultimate “Game of Thrones” (GoT) experience to this year’s AsiaPOP Comicon, to be held at the SMX Convention Center from August 25 to 27.
The SKY booth will have what almost everyone in Westeros wants, the Iron Throne. Visitors of the booth don’t have to join the “bloody game” to be able to sit on it, they just have to fall in line and ready the camera for the snap of a lifetime for any GoT fan. Cosplayers (costume players) will also be there to add intensity to the experience.
SKY will also hold a GoT cosplay contest, which is open to guests and spectators of all ages at the 2017 AsiaPOP Comicon, SKY subscriber or not. Registration will begin on Friday, August 25 and end 4 PM the next day, August 26 at the SKY booth. Interested participants should register in their GoT costumes.
The 15 chosen cosplayers will get to parade their best Game of Thrones costumes down the catwalk at 5 PM on the last day of AsiaPOP Comicon (August 27, Saturday). They will vie for the “Treasures of Westeros,” cash and items worth $1,000.
The victor will be announced on the same day at the Cosplay Authority Global Challenge (CAGE), which is the cosplay contest covering the entire Asia Pop Comicon Manila where contestants can come in costumes that are not only from Game of Thrones.
Guests at this year’s AsiaPOP Comicon will also be treated to a live performance of Kontra Gapi’s version of the GoT theme, and a song from HERO TV’s Anime Jock Myrtle Sarosa on Saturday, August 26 from1:30 PM to 2 PM.
Filipinos have been enjoying another sensational season of GoT on SKY on cable via SKYcable channel and on HBO Go. SKY previously gave families a chance to experience their favorite channels, programs, and characters via experiential and interactive activities such as the SKY Alive!, held in celebration of its 25th anniversary and which eventually went on tour around the country.
AsiaPOP Comicon is the biggest annual comic and pop culture in the region. More than a comic convention, it brings different aspects of pop culture together.
