Jake Zyrus’ mother Raquel Pempengco was not happy with her character’s story in last night’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode

According to Raquel, some of the details about her were false and were only made up by Jake
Raquel Pempengco, mother of Filipino artist Jake Zyrus, expressed her disappointment towards her son’s story as told in the August 26 “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode.
The story depicted the early life of Charice Pempengco, before she came out as a lesbian in 2013 and transitioned into transgender man this year.
Subsequently, the episode showed how Jake’s mother, treated his identity crisis. Award-winning actress Dina Bonnevie played the role of Raquel in the story.
According to the narration, Raquel forced her daughter to join singing contests. It was also seen that Raquel threw hurtful words during his childhood.
It was also revealed in the “MMK” episode that Raquel spent all the money earned by Jake incessantly. Most important of all, Jake’s mother refused to accept his sexuality and was firmly against her coming out as a lesbian.
“Sinungaling si Charice,” said Raquel via text message to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
Raquel shared that she almost suffer a heart attack because of Jake’s “false” accusations of their mother-daughter story.
“Basta puro kasinungalingan pinaggagawa niya, gawin man niya akong masama nang paulit-ulit, kung dun siya magiging masaya.
“Wala akong magagawa kundi hintayin ang kahihinatnan ng mga pinaggagawa niya.”
Raquel added that she was left with no choice but to pray for her. She also said that the public doesn’t know of Jake’s real personality and how his friends were back then.
In the end, Jake’s mother advised that her son seek help from mental health experts.
“People will not understand what kind of thinking meron siya… at what kind of friends meron siya.
“She needs a psychologist.”
