GMA Network’s newest rom-com primetime series “My Korean Jagiya” started with a lukewarm, if not cold, reception from the viewers.
Piloting last Monday, August 21, the Heart Evangelista starrer Fil-Korean drama didn’t create big impact in the ratings scorecard even succumbing to its rival since its second episode.
AGB Nielsen numbers
While “My Korean Jagiya” managed to get ahead of “A Love To Last” on its premiere according to AGB Nielsen NUTAM People survey, the gap is very insignificant to call it a success. The Kapuso rom-com only managed to get 6.6% versus “A Love To Last’s” 6.2 or a difference of a very small 0.4%.
And not only that, starting on its second day, the Kapuso primetime series started to dwindle down bowing to its competitor. AGB Nielsen recorded 6.3% for Jagiya on Tuesday as opposed to “A Love To Last’s” 7.0%.
Its third day was not different as the Ian Veneracion-Bea Alonzo led teleserye maintained its 0.7% lead, 6.5% versus 5.8%.
Kantar Media numbers
Kantar data was no different with that of AGB as it also recorded win also for Jagiya’s rival.
“My Korean Jagiya” was beaten by “A Love To Last” on its pilot based on the data from Kantar 10.2% to 16.8%. The loss continued on its second with Jagiya even shedding more viewers to 9.3% versus “A Love To Last’s” 18.0%.
Is Heart really past her prime?
Judging from the result of its initial ratings, I can say that indeed Heart has already past her prime. Just like what happened to “Mulawin vs Ravena”, Heart’s presence did not make any impact to lift the program’s ratings.
Just like what happened to “Mulawin vs Ravena”, Heart’s presence did not make any impact to lift the program’s ratings. She may have the name recall being in showbiz for quite a long time, but that doesn’t translate to viewers tuning-in to their programs.
If this kind of reception and ratings performance continue, I will not be surprised if this series will end sooner.
