TV host and comedian Vice Ganda sparked online buzz when he used the name of veteran journalist Tony Calvento in a joke during an episode of “It’s Showtime” Tawag Ng Tanghalan segment.
In an attempt to console a contestant, Vice gave an advice about physical appearance.
“Never be ashamed of your face. ‘Yang mukha mo, ikaw ‘yan at maraming pagdadalhan ‘yang mukha na ‘yan.
“That is a gift. Your face, kahit gaano kalaki ‘yan, kahit kamukha mo si Tony Calvento, mukha mo ‘yan. Kaya dapat proud ka. ‘Wag mong ikakahiya yang mukha mo, kase nag iisa lang yan.”
The journalist got offended by the joke and threatened the host and the show that he will file a case against them. He ordered Vice to do a public apology.
In her own opinion, talent manager and entertainment writer Lolit Solis said that the rift between Vice and Tony is quite funny. She said that the host should be thankful that Tony is now “mellow” on dealing with situations like this.
“Natawa ako sa issue nina Tony Calvento at Vice Ganda.
“Buti na lang mellow guy na si Tony nang maka-engkuwentro niya si Vice Ganda. Kung nangyari ito noon, tiyak may physical encounter. Hah hah hah.
“Sobra impulsive iyang si Tony Calvento noon at maiksi ang kanyang pasensiya.
“At least ngayon, mellow na siya at medyo maganda na ang temper.
“Hay naku, kasi naman sa biruan, dapat iyon talagang kilala mo ang bibiruin mo ng nakakapikon. ‘Pag hindi mo masyadong close dapat ay medyo mag-ingat. Alam n’yo naman ngayon ang panahon, maiikli ang pasensiya ng mga tao.
“Iyong iba kasi ay hindi masakyan ang mga biro kaya kapag umiinit ulo, sa demanda aabot at sa pagbabayad abogado.
“Minsan naman ay sa pisikalan ito napupunta at sa sakit ng katawan. Kaya ingat sa pagbibiro lalo na ngayong panahon ng tokhang, baka bigla ka na lang bumulagta ka sa daan. Hah hah hah. #lolitkulit #instatalk #70naako”
Lolit added that she personally knows the attitude and temper of Tony. She reiterated that it’s a good thing Tony was not aggressive and “physical” with Vice.
At the end of her post, Lolit gave an advice to be mindful of their jokes, especially when using people who are not really close to them.
