100 Tula Para kay Stella secured the number one spot amongst the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilpino audiences.
Viva Film’s entry to the first Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino recently bagged the festivals Audience Choice special award.
It was revealed that 100 Tula did not pass the taste of Star Cinema when the screenplay was first submitted to them. Just like the unexpected hit “Kita Kita”, “100 Tula Para kay Stella” also caught the hearts of film viewers because of its unique story.
According to a source both films were rejected because the lead stars are thought to be not bankable enough to gain viewers.
Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez’s “Kita Kita” surprisingly gained more than 300 million pesos in three weeks.
Then, Bella Padilla’s and JC Santos’ “100 Tula Para kay Stella” directed by Jason Paul Laxamana stood out among the 12 PPP entries. 100 Tula also earned millions in the box office.
Viva Films took the risk and produced both films.
Lead stars Bela Padilla and JC Santos meanwhile were both grateful to those who watched and gave good reviews to their film.
Netizens believe that people have truly realized the essence of a film. It’s not just about bringing “kilig” but the important lessons the story itself shares.
Good news to those who missed all PPP films because showing was extended in 110 selected cinemas nationwide.
