- GMA head writer Suzette Doctolero shared her opinion on this year’s Cinemalaya entries, “Respeto” and “Nabubulok”
- According to Suzette, she liked Abra’s film more than “Nabubulok.”
Kapuso writer Suzette Doctolero gave a controversial review on two Cinemalaya entries, “Respeto” and “Nabubulok.”
Last Tuesday, Suzette watched both movies later on went on Facebook to express what she thought of them.
She gave Director Alberto Monteras’ film a positive review while she ridiculed “Nabubulok,” which was directed by Sonny Calvento.
According to Suzette, she found it a waste of money and believed that the slot should have been given to a more deserving film.
This was taken badly by one of Nabubulok’s cinematographers Neil Daza, who reposted the writer’s opinion.
Daza wrote, “Speaking of RESPECT. We promise to live up to your standard next time.”
Dovtolero responded by writing a lengthy post again on Facebook.
To her defense, Doctolero said that Neil should not be hurt with negative review and that she was just being honest.
She even called out the cinematographer for demanding her respect.
“Ano ba gusto mo? Manahimik? E sa naghimagsik ang loob ko e. Nagbayad ako no at di nyo naman ako nilibre para idemand na irespeto ko kayo. Hello. Irespeto nyo kaya ako as an audience pwede? Inaksaya ko oras ko at pera tapos so so lang mapapanood ko? Lalo na at Cinemalaya entry yan kaya mas mataas ang expectations di ba? Pero okey lang. di ko na sisingilin ang ibinayad ko sa sine nyo. Salamat ha.”
Suzette stressed that she’s not the type of writer that will sugarcoat her reviews.
“Baka naman ang gusto mo ay magbolahan tayo? Di ko style yan. Nyt,” she said.
