“Abs ng Bayan”, Jak Roberto explained why GMA Network management forbids him from playing gay roles. The 24-year-old hunk, clarified in an interview, the reason why his management prevents him from doing gay roles as he wishes to do.
Jak is seen most of the time “”topless” in his roles in shows shown on GMA Network. This, according to the young actor, is the reason behind why the network forbids him from doing gay roles.
“Open po ako sa kahit anong role! Actually kahit nga gay e,” the hunk actor responded when asked if he would go wholesome or keep the “Abs ng Bayan” image for his next role.
However his management—GMA Artist Center-wants him to keep the leading man/hunk career path. Jak is best remembers in “Meant To Be”, as a teenybopper full-blooded Pinoy named Andoy who teases everyone with his well-defined abs.
He explained with a smile, “Kasi mino-mold ako na “Abs ng Bayan”, tapos gay role.”
At present, Jak is preparing to audition for a project with the “Meant To Be Boys”. He said, “Alam ko hindi soap. Parang sitcom.”
No confirmation has been given yet, but there are rumors that the show would somehow be like Palibhasa Lalake, a sitcom launched by the other network that starred Richard Gomez, John Estrada and Joey Marquez in 1987.
Jak is now back appearing in GMA’s Unang Hirit and Day Off aside from being a semi-regular in the hit gag show, Bubble Gang.
