- Earlier this week, Suzette Doctolero gave snide remarks on the Cinemalaya entry, ‘Nabubulok’.
- Gina Alajar, one of the stars of the movie, simply shrugged off the writer’s insulting remarks.
When it comes to the film industry, there is no single film that would fit everyone’s taste and preferences. Veteran actress Gina Alajar understands this. That is why she simply shrugged off the insulting comments Suzette Doctolero gave regarding her movie, “Nabubulok,” an official entry too this year’s Cinemalaya.
The actress initially intended to stay mum about the matter but she eventually felt the need to speak up. In an interview with Noel Ferrer of Radio Inquirer, Gina stated that negative comments are normal.
However, the actress also reiterated that in this industry, respect is the bare minimum. “Mas na-appreciate ko yung tumahimik na lang siya kasi isang industriya lang naman natin tong ginagalawan natin, magkakilala naman tayo Buti sana kung hindi tayo pare-parehong practitioner, di ba?”, said the actress.
Gina also pointed out that it’s good to keep in mind that directors who participate in Cinemalaya are first timers. Hence, it would have been better if Kapuso writer Suzette Doctolero managed her expectations. Towards the end of the interview, the actress cleared out that she does not have any hard feelings towards Suzette.
“Nabubulok” won Best Production Design for Marxie Maolen Fadul during the festival’s awards night last Sunday.
