- “Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin” actor Gerald Anderson shared that his trainers for the movie “AWOL” were among the soldiers slain in Marawi City
- Gerald dedicated the “Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino” movie entry to the fallen trainers who influenced and prepared him for the film.
Gerald Anderson said that he will be dedicating his upcoming film entry to the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) ‘AWOL’ to soldiers who died in battle on war-torn Marawi City, particularly for the two soldiers who helped Gerald train for his role in the upcoming movie.
Although not revealing who the two fallen soldiers are, Gerald said during an interview that the two soldiers helped him train in Fort Bonifacio to prepare for his role as a member of the special action force.
He also said that he had to prepare for his role with not only two, but many soldiers including real scout rangers.
“Every day, nandoon sila sa shoot, yung ginamit namin doon ay talagang totoong mga baril,” he said.
Gerald added that he hopes that filmgoers and soldiers will get a chance to see their film that depicts the sacrifices and dedication poured by soldiers in battle.
“Sana talaga mapanood talaga ito ng mga sundalo, lalo na yung mga galing sa Marawi and yung ibang nandito. Kasi, para magkaroon sila ng high morale,” the actor said.
“Kumbaga, yung respeto ko at yung buong production ng movie at crew ay mataas ang respeto para sa kanila, para sa ginagawa nila sa bayan.”
Directed by Enzo Williams, ‘AWOL’ tells the story of a soldier seeking revenge for his fallen comrades who were killed while off-duty.
AWOL is part of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino which will run from Aug. 16 to 22.
