ABOUT A TASTE OF HONG KONG SEASON 4
Experiencing Hong Kong with Kryz
Breakfast at Lan Fong Yuen
Josie Ho wraps on another photoshoot in the heart of Old Town Central, and heads over to Lan Fong Yuen where she meets Kryz and Daphne for a HK-style noodle and French toast lunch, washed down by pantyhose tea at this iconic spot.
Meeting Designer, Cecilia Ma, at PMQ!
Next stop Josie introduces the girls to one of Old Town’s star fashion designers – Cecelia Ma. Cecilia is a globally in-demand talent, most successful for her beautiful hand-painted acrylic clutch bags. Her shop is at PMQ, the former Police Married Quarters, a converted hipster space for fashionistas and designers since 2014.
Pit stop at 65 Peel and treasure hunt
Later, Josie and the girls meet up with Eunice Lim, a photographer from Singapore who has now made Hong Kong her home. They meet at 65 Peel Street, one of Old Town’s coolest bars before heading into the backstreets to shop for antiques in Cat Street, and to sip coffee at the chic coffee shop Teakha.
Fashion Shoot at 65 Peel
Josie pulls a surprise on the girls, and invites them to join her in an experimental photo shoot later. The girls are thrilled, and head off to Yang Shang Kee Qipao rental for some cool clothes. Ding Yung, the owner, is vowing to make the classic qi pao, a traditional Chinese dress, a staple of everyday wear once more. The girls choose their qi-paos for the shoot, and pick up cool clutch bags from Cecilia Ma, too.
Out to celebrate at The Pontiac
After the fun of the shoot, it’s a short walk through Soho to The Pontiac. Beckaly Franks, known as First Lady of Mixology has established a modern Coyote Ugly in the form of the Pontiac, a bar inspired by the neighborhood watering holes of Portland Brooklyn, and San Francisco. And her all-female bartending team know how to get the party started. Some good old-fashioned rock music belts out the juke box and they all let their hair down after their adrenaline pumped day.
