Watch the tear-jerking journey of a Filipino-Chinese family in “Mano Po 7: Chinoy” starring Richard Yap, Jean Garcia, Enchong Dee, and Janella Salvador as it premieres on Cinema One this Sunday (August 27).
This latest addition to the “Mano Po” anthology is a powerful drama about a family that hopes for love despite deep-seated rifts and differences. The film follows stern tycoon Wilson (Richard), who struggles in balancing business and maintaining connection with his neglected wife Debbie (Jean), former drug-addict son Wilson Jr. (Enchong), and cellist daughter Carol (Janella).
According to a review from the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Catholic Initiative for Enlightened Movie Appreciation, viewers will appreciate the movie for its respect for family values, marital sanctity, reverence to the elderly, understanding of each one’s weaknesses, and the importance of honesty in making relationships whole.
Michelle Tan of Chinese-Filipino lifestyle magazine program Chinoy TV also commended Richard’s powerful performance in the movie. She said, “Richard Yap was obviously the best fit for the character, Wilson, given that he is a Chinoy himself, it’s his comfort in portraying the character of a rich Chinese businessman and his fluency in Fukien that made his character natural.”
The cast also includes Jake Cuenca, Marlo Mortel, Kean Cipriano, and Jessy Mendiola.
