Basketball superstar Mark “Mac-mac” Cardona popularly known as the Captain Hook of the basketball court admitted that he took more than 100 pills to end his life.
Mac-mac narrated in his recent guesting in Kapamilya weekend show Rated K that it was his girlfriend who noticed that there was something wrong with him. The girlfriend advised him to consult a psychiatrist.
Mac-mac was diagnosed with bipolar personality. “Pag depressed, mag-isa lang ako sa room. Kapag masaya ako, talagang masaya.”
He confessed that his body finds it hard to adjust with the medications. He felt lazy and weak most of the time.
Things worsen when his girlfriend packed her things and left their house. Mac-mac tried to convince her to stay but the girlfriend refused.
Mac-mac said that night he was so depressed. He thought about life and mindlessly took more than a hundred tablets of his medicines.
“Siguro parang nasanay na ako dun sa medicine na tine-take ko and then ang dami kong gamut nun e. Sobrang depressed ko nun, di ko alam anong gagawin ko. Nadepressed din ako sa basketball kasi hindi na ako nagagamit. Then nakita ko yung gamut ko, tinake ko lahat, more than 100 po siguro. Kasi lumaki ako na broken family din, ayaw kong masira yung family ko,” he explained.
When he woke up, Mark saw his ex-girlfriend together with their child and regretted everything he has done.
“Siya po yung gumising sakin. Sabi ko ba’t ko ba nagawa yun. Kaya po iyak ako ng iyak nung dinalaw po nila ako sa ospital,” Mark ended.
