The first ever Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) has just commenced and moviegoers have seen some of the films but with the long weekend ahead, we are quite sure that most of us are planning to see all film entries. We believe that this new film festival will surely disrupt the norm.
Coinciding the Buwan ng Wika, both PPP and Viva Film’s entry, 100 Tula Para Kay Stella will make you feel proud of our country in general, and our language, in particular.
With this, LionhearTV shares five totally amazing reasons why you should go out and watch 100 Tula Para Kay Stella.
1.The Juans
They maybe incomplete in the film and yes (spoiler alert) they play the bullies here, but fans of this awesome boyband will be screaming in delight to see Carl and Jiad of Viva’s boyband, The Juans on the big screen.
2. Balisong
Speaking of The Juans, you should check out their cover single “Balisong,” the movie’s theme song. The song title maybe in Filipino and intriguing but the lyrics is in English. Balisong, a Rivermaya original piece, has this really really really catchy and uhmmm poetic lines and hunting melody.

3. Our college years
How well do you remember your college days, or even years? In 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, Fidel, played by breakthrough actor, JC Santos, met Stella on their first year of college.
Stella met Fidel at a party for freshmen. There, Stella said these lines that truly made us go back to college and savor each moment. In the film, Stella said,
“College ang panahon para makilala mo ang sarili mo. ”
“‘Pag nakilala mo, ipagmalaki mo.”
Inspired and in love, Fidel started writing poems for Stella all throughout their college years. Want to know what he wrote and did he give it to Stella? You have got to watch the movie.
4. Bela Padilla
Need we explain more? Bela in black lipstick and without, figuratively and literally rocks in the film. Her subdued acting yet powerful (would really dig deep into your heart… and soul) makes the film worthy of your time.
Our favorite line from Stella? “Eh ano ngayon kung mautal?”
5. JC Santos
We have three words for JC, “Galing mo JC!”
While our jaws are still trying to find its way back to its proper place, we are still in awe by this actor’s versatility. How can you not love JC after this movie? Viewers will surely love and share Fidel’s agony, thanks to JC’s effective acting and powerful voice that can command you to believe his lines, and his emotions. We could not imagine the film without JC. After watching JC smile, laugh, stutter, write, sing (yes, the guy CAN sing!) cry and smile again, made me want to write a poem for JC errr Fidel.
So there you go folks! The long weekend awaits and 100 Tula Para Kay Stella should be part of it. Oh and be sure to bring your pen and paper aside from tons of tissues and a reliable friend with you when watching the film.
