- Think of all the former couples you know. Now think of the ones you know who have managed to remain friends. We’re guessing you can count the number who are still close on one hand — and even that seems like a stretch.
- In showbiz, there are a couple of celebrities who have managed to remain friends despite the closure of their love relationship.
- They say that those who can stay friends with a former love are the most mature, satisfied partners among us — and the ones coming from romances that were built on real friendship.
We can probably all agree that staying friends with an ex isn’t the easiest thing in the world to do, whether you’re famous or not. While many high-profile breakups (and annulment or divorces in particular) can get nasty, there are a handful of former couples who have managed to put any animosity aside for the sake of their children, families, or just each other.
Yes, there is such a thing as amicable separation. Call it any other way, be it ‘consciously uncoupling’ or simply a friendly split up. There are ex couple who have managed to stay friendly even though their love fizzled.
For this week’s On My Radar, let me share with you some showbiz ex-couples who have managed to remain friends.
Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado
From the romance that started during their ‘Starstruck Season 1, up until this very day that they have their own children as single parents, Jennylyn and Mark have remained friends but fans are still rooting for the two to get back together even on screen as partners.
These two have their own respective partners: Mark is engaged with Wynwyn Marquez while Jennylyn is going steady with Dennis Trillo.
Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go
The love never ends between the ex-couple, even though they already have their current partners. He even paid her a visit during her stay in London for her Miss Saigon stint.
Rachelle Ann is now going steady with a foreigner businessman named Martin Spies while Christian is in a relationship with Kat Ramnani.
Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs
They were one of the hottest love teams in the mid-80’s. Decades after their relationship ended, Janno and Manilyn still get along with each other. Both are happily married with their respective partners, Bing Loyzaga for Janno and Aljon Jimenez for Manilyn.
They have recently worked together in the Kapuso primetime show “Meant To Be” where Janno had a short stint as a guest.
Jodi Sta. Maria and Pampi Lacson
Who would have thought that after their tumultuous past, Jodi and Pampi will be friends and Jodi will have a good relationship with Iwa Moto [Pampi’s current partner]? The good relationship between Sta. Maria, Moto and Lacson is a far cry from what they had in the past.
Sta. Maria and Lacson were married in 2005 but separated in 2011. The Kapamilya actress then went on to date Jolo Revilla while Lacson started seeing Moto.
Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin
These two young stars remained as friends after their breakup years ago. Since they are still comfortable to work with each other, GMA continues to pair them up in shows, and they don’t fail to make their viewers feel kilig!
If there’s still a possibility on getting back together for these two, only their kismet can tell. But fans would surely rejoice if they will.
Anne Curtis and Sam Milby
Anne Curtis and Sam Milby got really close to each other when they did the ABS-CBN TV show, ‘Diyosa’ topbilled by Anne.
They became officially a couple on the first quarter of 2007 but the actress broke up with him late that year to establish her ‘personal relationship with God.’ They tried to save whatever was left in their relationship but in 2008, Sam eventually broke up with Anne. The TV host actress felt so devastated but still pleaded to fans to understand Sam.
There was no third party involved in the separation. Sam claims that Anne was “the One who got away and was his greatest love.” Anne is now engaged with long-time boyfriend, restaurateur and foodie blogger/columnist Erwan Heusaff.
On the other hand, Sam is currently in a relationship with professional model and blogger, Mari Jasmine. But the e couple were able to remain as friends.
Kris Lawrence and Katrina Halili
Kris Lawrence and Katrina Halili decided not to live under the same roof but there is one thing that keeps them together – their child Katie.
Solenn Heusaff and Derek Ramsay
Nine years since they broke up, Solenn and Derek starred in the 2015 film ‘Love is Blind. Solenn is now happily married to Argentinian Nico Bolzico while Derek is in a relationship with Joanne Villablanca.
Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu
The Kimerald fans rejoiced when the two agreed to do ABS-CBN’s Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin where Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Season 1’s Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson was reunited after so many years.
The two have remained friends and they both admitted they have matured in so many ways. Kim is romantically linked with Xian Lim while Gerald has Bea Alonzo as his significant other.
Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz
There’s no love like John Lloyd and Angelica’s. The former couple had a stable four-year relationship, until they shocked Philippine show business of their breakup, just months before Lloydie’s ‘A Second Chance.’
Could they possibly have their own second chance? There are issues that they’re often spotted together in different occasions. The question is, have they gone back together or they’re just each other’s passing fancy? One thing is sure, they’re still friends.
Bela Padilla and Neil Arce
It was in January of 2017 that Bela has confirmed that she and boyfriend/movie producer Neil Arce had broken up. Padilla even managed to work with her ex boyfriend even after their separation while filming the movie “Luck at First Sight” with Jericho Rosales.
Bela is very much single while Neil is romantically linked with actress Angel Locsin.
