- Ryza Cenon recently signed a management contract with Viva Artists Agency and created a stir among gossipmongers because they said she chose Viva over GMA Artist Center.
- Ryza clarifies that yes, she had signed a management contract with Viva Artist Agency, but it doesn’t necessarily meant that she’ll be leaving GMA soon.
- The actress also denied rumors that she will be leaving GMA’s afternoon drama series, “Ika-6 Na Utos.”
If you’re a homegrown talent of a TV network and your contract expired. It won’t hurt if you look for a new management if no new contract was offered. This is to look after your career’s best interest, right? That’s exactly what has happened with Kapuso actress Ryza Cenon.
Ryza was a homegrown talent and product of GMA 7’s reality-based artista search, “Starstruck.” Before she could be accused of being “ungrateful” to her home network especially after she signed with Viva Artist Management, Ryza clears the issue on her transfer of management.
The 29-year old actress explained that she was with GMA for four years without any guaranteed contract that binds her with them. She also revealed that her decision was not an easy one. It was something she had to think over and over again. Eventually, she decided to leave GMA Artist Center who took her under their wing for 12 years since she became the Ultimate Female Survivor for Starstruck in 2004.
“It wasn’t really easy for me [to decide and leave GMA], Nag-end contract ko ng February 2017 and I signed with Viva last June 2017,” said Ryza during an interview she had with Pep.ph. It took her four months to really think about it. GMA Artist Center also offered to renew her contract.
What she had laid down with Viva though was her decision to remain a Kapuso. Unlike other fellow Viva artist talents, she owes a lot to GMA that she wanted to stay with them. Her reason? “Kasi dun [GMA] po ako nagsimula eh, hindi ko po maiiwan.”
Ryza welcomed the change of management for the simple reason that she felt she needed some career growth. As a contract artist of Viva, she will be doing two movies soon.
Meanwhile, Ryza also stressed that she is not leaving GMA’s “Ika-6 na Utos” where she shines as Georgia, the ever feisty mistress in the series. Her much-talked about cat-fight with Sunshine Dizon resulted to an injury as it really went physical. But the real trouper that she is, Ryza did not really mind as long as the role calls for it.
