- TV5’s entertainment reporter Jessica Asis a.k.a. Laila Chikadora recently turned to Facebook to rant about a certain morning show producer who didn’t use her report on the coverage of the recent 40th Gawad Urian Awards Night.
- According to Laila’s Facebook post, she felt really bad and disappointed upon knowing that her report and coverage of the said awards night wouldn’t be aired, instead only a video highlights will be played along with the live annotations of the TV host.
- Laila also said that the reason why she turned to social media was because the management seemed to be deaf-ears when it comes to matters like these.
Ask anyone who may have exerted one’s effort into something and then not given proper credit and would make your every little effort turn into fluke –C’mon, who wouldn’t go really angry?
TV5 reporter Laila Chikadora recently experienced such. She recently covered the 40th Gawad Urian Awards night for TV5. But it turned out, all her efforts were turned to waste when a morning show producer apparently decided not to use her coverage report and instead just play the video highlights along with the live annotation by the host.
Laila not only felt so disappointed but also felt bad. Her coverage of the said event was something she had really worked hard for. She even mentioned that she didn’t had enough sleep because she knew she had to rush making the said coverage.
She turned to social media, Facebook where the disc jockey cum reporter let out all her sentiments against the TV producer. She believes that through the help of social media, she’ll be able to address her grievances to the management whom she referred to as ‘deaf’ when it comes to things like these.
The 40th Gawad Urian is an award-giving body held annually which is well attended by a lot of celebrities. For this particular year, Vilma Santos-Recto was awarded with the highest distinction given to an actress by Gawad Urian. Laila felt so bad that while the other networks’ reporters coverage are being aired, her own report and coverage who was a product of her sweat, blood and tears were not aired. Instead, the morning show producer had decided to simply play the highlights of the said event while their new anchor reads the idiot board.
Laila also wrote: “Sayang naman. Hindi naman ninyo ako segment producer dito [reporter po ako].” She really felt so disrespected for both her work and as a person. She believes her story is worth airing. She says, she fights for what she believes is right.
She adds: “Matapang ako? Opo. Dahil ipinaglalaban ko ang istorya kong may kabuluhan. Yung iba kong reporter na mga kasamahan, iniiyak na lang o kaya nagtitimpi na lang pero sorry po, hindi ako ganun.”
Laila, however, still hopes that the management of the said morning show would be able to realize that they should’ve given Laila’s coverage story a chance to be aired. She also said that they are all under one team. Instead of being competitors, everyone must work as a team in order to create an entertaining and informative show for all their TV viewers.
