Celebrities often make decisions in their career in order to have a break and become even more famous. Some choose to try other managements or agencies while others resort to switch networks.
Surprisingly, this tactic has become one of the most effective to those showbiz personalities with a dying career.
Below is the list of Filipino artists who transferred from their home network to another and gained more success!
1. Liza Soberano (from GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Liza first appeared in the Kapuso network but was not given much attention so she transferred to ABS-CBN.
Now, she’s one of the most beautiful woman recognized in Asia. She’s also the star behind various successful Kapamilya teleseryes. Notable were “Forevermore” and “Dolce Amore.”
Liza is the love team partner of Enrique Gil and they have their own fanbase called LizQuen.
She’s currently prepping up for the movie remake of Mars Ravelo’s superhero comic “Darna.”
2. Sarah Geronimo (from IBC 13 to GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Known as Sarah G, the Popstar Princess, entered the music industry in 2003 by winning IBC’s “Star for a Night.”
She began working for ABSCBN the year after and appeared in projects such as ASAP (2004–present), Bituing Walang Ningning (2006) and Sarah G. Live! (2012-2013). She was also a coach in The Voice of the Philippines and The Voice Kids for two seasons from 2013 to 2015.
3. Anne Curtis ( from GMA Network to ABSCBN)
The 32-year-old Kapamilya actress began early in the industry. She first appeared in GMA 7’s Ikaw Na Sana back in 2003 and played various minor roles under the network.
She transferred to ABSCBN in 2004 and that’s when she had her big break. She even referred to this decision as “majorly life changing.”
Anne was provided with overflowing projects both in acting and hosting. To name a few, in “Hiram,” “ASAP,” “The Buzz,” “Wag Kang Lilingon,” “DYOSA,” and the ongoing noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
4. Dennis Trillo (from ABS-CBN to GMA Network)
Dennis has been in the industry since 2001 when he was introduced as part of ABS-CBN’s Star Circle (now known as Star Magic) batch 10 along with Bea Alonzo, Alfred Vargas and TJ Trinidad.
He had his breakthrough the moment he transferred to GMA landed his first role in the youth-oriented drama “Kahit Kailan.”
Dennis received continous projects through the years as a Kapuso. He starred in notable series and shows like “Mulawin,” “Encantadia,” “Etheria,” “Zaido,” and the controversial “My Husband’s Lover.”
He’s currently playing lead role in ongoing fantaserye “Mulawin versus Ravena.”
5. Arci Muñoz (from GMA Network to TV5 to ABS-CBN)
Arci Muñoz is both singer and actress. She’s the vocalist of her rock band named PHILIA, juggling her showbiz career with her passion for music.
She first entered the industry through GMA’s “StarStruck” in 2005. After that, she appeared in various shows in the network with minor roles.
Arci moved to ABSCBN in 2014 and rose to fame since then. She got a break in her Norma in “Pasion De Amor.”
She’s given movie projects including rom-coms “Always Be My Maybe,” “Camp Sawi,” and the latest hit “Can We Still Be Friends?” with Gerald Anderson.
6. Toni Gonzaga-Soriano (from GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Toni is a talented singer, television host and actress. She’s now dubbed as the “Ultimate Multimedia Star” because of her many achievements in various fields in the industry.
She first joined a singing competition called “Metropop Star Search”, which was then aired on GMA but did not win. However, she caught attention in her 2001 Sprite TV ad with Piolo Pascual. In the same year, she released her eponymous debut album under Prime Music.
Toni decided to switch to ABSCBN in 2005 and was trusted with so many projects. She became one of the main hosts of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother,” and “The Voice Philippines.”
She already had eight concerts and eight albums as well. Toni’s also star to several hit movies such as “My Amnesia Girl,” “Wedding Tayo Wedding Hindi,” “This Guy’s Inlove With You Mare,” “Starting Over Again,” “You’re My Boss,” and more.
7. Ella Cruz (from GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Teen actress/performer, Ella, started early in the show business too. She’s already acting when she was nine years old under GMA Network.
Her first activity was “Mahika” then she transferred networks from time to time. She left GMA for ABSCBN in 2007 but later on returned to Kapuso then she switched to TV5 but finally settled down again in ABSCBN up to this date.
Ella’s notable for her own fantasy-drama series “Aryana” where she played the lead role as mermaid.
She’s currently pursuing her dancing alongside her acting.
8. Yassi Pressman (from GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Yassi is a Filipino British model, actress, television personality, singer and dancer. You could say she’s quite a package.
In 2007, she became one of the female dancers of SOP Fully Charged. She was tagged as the “Princess of the Dance Floor” when she became part of Sayaw Pilipinas together with Mark Herras, Sef Cadayona, Rocco Nacino, Steven Silva, Mayton Eugenio, Diva Montelaba, and Wynwyn Marquez.
It was in 2013 that she signed with Viva and received movie projects. She starred in Wattpad adaptation “Diary ng Panget” with James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine) in 2014.
Yassi also starred in movies including “Camp Sawi” and “Girlfriend for Hire.”
Now, she’s at the peak of her career being one of the lead characters in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” book two.
9. Tom Rodriguez (from ABS-CBN to GMA Network)
Tom was once a “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate in ABSCBN until he decided to transfer to GMA in 2013.
He was lead in the controversial LGBT-themed teleserye titled “My Husband’s Love” with Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana. It was a series marked as a success because it gained a lot of ratings.
Tom also hosted the local franchise of the German game show Don’t Lose the Money.
10. Jonalyn “Jona” Viray (from GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Formerly Jonalyn Viray, “Jona” reinvented herself when she decided to switch networks.
She started in the music industry upon winning GMA 7’s “Pinoy Pop Superstar.” Jona caught attention through her powerful ‘biritera’ voice. After being in the network for several years, she transferred to ABSCBN.
Jona now has a self-titled album under Star Music and will be holding her solo concert soon. She’s the voice behind various Kapamilya teleserye soundtracks, “Pusong Ligaw” for one.
11. Nadine Lustre (from GMA Network to ABS-CBN)
Nadine belongs to one of the hottest love teams today and is currently making her own line of perfume.
She’s far ahead of the girl she used to be. With the 2017 FHM Sexiest Woman title and a handsome showbiz boyfriend like James Reid, Nadine’s career is to die for.
Once she was a Kapuso star making appearances in their Sunday shows with former girl group “Pop Girls.” She used to perform with them but eventually left to go solo.
Nadine got a break in 2014’s Wattpad movie “Diary ng Panget.” Since then, she was consistently in demand both in the big screen and daily television.
Their love team, JaDine, first rose to fame during their hit romantic series in ABSCBN “On The Wings Of Love.”
