It may have taken quite a while before GMA Network’s new adaptation of the old favorite classic novel, “Impostora” gets aired. This version will be encapsulating two previous versions of this drama: from the movie version entitled “Sa Isang Sulok Ng Mga Pangarap” topbilled by Alice Dixson and the 2007 drama series which starred Sunshine Dizon and Iza Calzado.
But one thing’s for sure, this waiting will surely be worth it.
Playing dual roles will be actress Kris Bernal as she essays the role of Nimfa and Rosette.
According to the show’s director, Albert Langitan, there are a lot of interesting facts about this new afternoon drama that people had to watch out for.
It’s been a decade since the last “Impostora” was aired.
The TV director believes that the story is still as timeless as it is. It’s about an ugly woman [Nimfa] who willingl underwent plastic surgery to change her life. Such cases will always have an appeal to the public.
“Palagay ko, ‘yung ganitong formula or concept will still be acceptable to the viewers. ‘Yung core audience mahilig sa ganitong klaseng genre.”
“Because of that, naisipan siguro ng management na ‘Bakit hindi natin gawin ito ulit para ma-enjoy naman nung dating sumusubaybay sa unang Impostora at nang mapanood din ng mga millenials ngayon?,” explains the TV director.
A decade is indeed a relatively long time and it’s about time to revive a successful drama franchise. “Impostora is timeless in appeal, so it’s a good move for the network,” said the director confidently.
“Impostora’s” modern storyline is certainly suited to afternoon drama viewers. Langitan even believes it will maintain the GMA Afternoon Prime’s lead when it comes to ratings and viewership.
“Producing a TV show and then seeding it sa timeslot na magiging effective is like making a move in a chess game. Kung saang move ma-checkmate mo yung kalaban, ‘yun ang dapat gawin. GMA has so far been winning the afternoon ratings. So in my opinion, ang remake ng Impostora is very timely and it’s going to be a great move para idiin ang kalaban,” said the direk Langitan.
“Impostora” replaced “Legally Blind” on the GMA’s Afternoon Primetime and it goes head on with ABS-CBN’s “Pusong Ligaw.”
