Earlier this week, LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) imposed a P5 Million fine against ride-hailing companies Grab and Uber and plans to shut down the unlicensed drivers of both.
According to the memo of the government agency, “both Transport Network Companies are directed to cease with dispatch the operations of all their TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Services) which do not have the required Certificates of Public Convenience.”
There’s 90% of ride-hailing vehicles that are not complete with the mentioned requirements that’s why when the time comes, riders are left with the 10%.
Social media has been reacting negatively towards this upcoming implementation. There are hashtags going viral saying that “#WeWantUberGrab.”
Local celebrities join in supporting the companies by sharing their rants about the taxis in the country.
Former “It’s Showtime” host Coleen Garcia was the most vocal about it because she had first-hand experience with unruly taxi drivers.

Former CNN Philippines Sports Desk anchor Francesca Litton gave her statement too.
