- It pays for a TV show to have its social media presence. It also adds up to a show’s popularity if a certain video, photo or article goes viral.
- However, even if it adds up some media hype, still social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram do not affect the show’s ratings.
Carla Abellana recently reminded her social media followers that even if they tweet every night about her show, “I Heart Davao,” it does not in any way affect the show’s ratings.
Carla turned to Instagram and thanked the fans who regularly watch her and reel and real life boyfriend, Tom Rodriguez’ show every night called “I Heart Davao.” But the actress had to explain that Tweets had nothing to do much with the TV ratings.

Kapuso actress Carla Abellana recently turned to Instagram to thank the fans who religiously watch “I Heart Davao,” the primetime show she has with reel and real life boyfriend Tom Rodriguez on GMA network. The actress said that although she appreciates all those who tweet about the said show every single night, she reminded them that contrary to their beliefs, the tweets do not contribute to the show’s ratings.
Carla wrote that she had just discovered that some of the fans believe tweets contribute to a show’s ratings. Other people believe that the more tweets a show gets, the higher the ratings.
But none of these are true. “Hindi po ganun yun,” says Carla.
According to the actress, the show’s ratings are solely based on the number of television unit tuned in to a particular show during the show’s airtime. By the end of her post, she encourages more people to watch their show. “Nood po kayo [“I Heart Davao’”] kasi dun po naka-base ang ratings, hindi po sa tweets. Salamat po.”
Here’s Carla’s full post on Instagram: “Hi everyone! Thank you so much to those who watch #iHeartDavao every night! And to those who tweet every night as well. 🙏🏼Paalala ko lang po, kasi i just discovered that some of you believe that tweets contribute to a show’s ratings and that the more tweets the higher the ratings. Hindi po ganun yun. 😊 Wala pong kinalaman ang mga tweets sa ratings because ratings are based on the number of television units tuned in to a particular show during the show’s airtime. Again, wala pong kinalaman ang tweets sa ratings ng show. Nood po kayo kasi dun po naka-base ang ratings, hindi po sa tweets. Salamat po! 🙏🏼”
