- The Philippines recently won in the fifth season of Asia’s Next Top Model [AsNTM] with Maureen Wroblewitz emerging as the winner among 14 contestants from all over asia.
- Maureen went on a stringent screening process as well as rigorous training where eventually she went head to head with Malaysia’s Shikin Gomez and Vietnam’s Min Tu Ngyuen in the finale round’s challenge.
- She might be focused on modelling now but she reveals she’s also open to pursue acting because it’s also something she’s really passionate about.
Asia’s Next Top Model winner Maureen Wroblewitz had given her countrymen another reason to be proud of. After weeks of anticipation, it was such a delight to know that the 19-year-old half German, half-Pinay became the first Filipina to bring home that title.
“I’m so happy that I could make [Phiippine fans’] dream come true,” says Maureen, thinking of all the Filipino viewers who eagerly watched every season in the hope of a Filipina top model contender to finish. As the last Filipino contestant in the said contest, Maureen admitted she felt pressured to make it to the finale. “I really had to give it my all because I really wanted to win this for the Philippines,” she said.
She never expected to win, but she had given her best in the competition. “I wasn’t expecting [to win]. I was just hoping for it because I was still feeling a little intimidated by Tu and Shikin because they’re much taller and much more experienced. So I was like, maybe it’s not my year.”
But she was able to turn her insecurities into motivation and so she emerged as the winner.
“It’s always been my dream to become a model so I’d always pose in front of the mirror. I would always check like photo shoots, magazines and I would like to copy their poses,” she said.
Maureen won for herself a brand new car. She’s also set to appear on the cover of a fashion magazine in Singapore. She also has the chance to be listed under the famed international model agency in Europe, the Store Model Management.
On GMA 7’s ‘24 Oras’, Maureen also revealed that she’s willing to pursue an acting career if she’d be given the opportunity. “I’m very open to that. I’d like to try my luck in showbiz.I might pursue acting because I also have a passion for it. But right now, I really wanna focus on my modelling career.”
