- Singer Aiza Seguerra was one of the first ones who congratulated Charice with her decision to change her name into Jake Zyrus.
- Aiza said she’s very happy for Jake.
- As a transgender man himself, he knows too well what he had to go through because it takes a lot of courage to come out and show to everyone what you’re made of.
- Aiza is also open to change her name soon. But unlike Charice who chose an entirely different name, Aiza said if and when she decides to change her name, it wouldn’t be something far from what she’s been called all these years.
National Youth Commission [NYC] chairman and singer Aiza Seguerra was actually one of the first few who’s been really supportive of Charice’s decision to change his name to Jake Zyrus.
Aiza sees there’s nothing wrong with that decision to change name, especially if it means a lot to the person concerned and it would help his or her in the freedom to express thy self and come out openly in public.
“If you need to change your name to be able to do that, then, go, Hindi siya [name] dapat maging deterent para mailabas ng tao kung sino ba talaga siya.”
Aiza openly admitted that she and Liza have discussed about her plans to change name long before Charice became Jake Zyrus. Aiza said her partner, Liza had been very supportive about it. In fact, Aiza already thought of a name. She says it would be something that’s not quite difficult to remember as it’s not far from the name she’d always been known for.
“Ever since high school, yung closest friends ko tinatawag ako sa nickname kong Ize. So, since sanay na ang lahat dahil yun naman tawag sa akin talaga, may recall agad,” Aiza talking to Bandera.
“Ize Seguerra. I like the sound of it. Hindi ko pa siya naiisip because I’m really very busy doing other things. I plan to launch myself as Ize soon.”
Aiza would like to use Ize for screen name just in case she’d decide to change her name. While Jake Zyrus had been taking male hormones now, will Aiza be open into doing that as well as to sex change in the future?
“Transition in terms of hormones, yes,” she said. But for gender reassignment, it’s something Aiza has not explored yet. She believes that Science isn’t that advance in the country, even abroad. “Mas advance kasi ngayon yung transwomen rather than transmen,”Aiza reasons out.
Aiza isn’t closing her doors though. “Mas marami lang kasi yung transwomen kay sa sa transmen. Baka in the future, who knows? I’m not closing my doors neither am I saying yes. We’ll cross the bridge when we get there, when the opportunity presents itself. Saka na lang tayo mag decide.”
