Angel Locsin has made headlines this week after her photos doing voluntary jobs in Iligan City have surfaced online.
Although the Kapamilya actress has won the hearts of many Filipinos, some netizens have expressed their skepticism towards Angel. Others considered Angel’s actions as publicity; saying that the 32-year-old could just help the evacuees without publicly announcing it.
Thus, some some of Angel’s celebrity friends joined forces together to defend the “La Luna Sangre” star from people who questioned her voluntaristic actions in Mindanao.
Show business personalities stand up
On an Instagram post, director Joyce Bernal said that Angel is the kind of person who would help others without thinking twice.
On the other hand, Angel’s bestfriend Bubbles Paraiso revealed that the award-winning actress secretly left Manila to visit and help the evacuees. She also stressed her belief that Angel is indeed a ‘superhero.’
Bubbles said through an Instagram post: “Superheroes don’t need costumes or superpowers, all you need is compassion, kindness and sincerity in your actions. For me, @therealangellocsin is a ‘superhero’ because she secretly left for Marawi to visit and help the refugees without telling anyone (even the people closest to her).”
Bubbles also added, “She didn’t want the publicity or the noise. She did it as quietly as she could, as a regular Filipino citizen. But the big celebrity that she is, of course people got wind of it and the media started to cover her work after a couple of days that she’s been there…”
Angel’s best friend also lamented by some people’s judgements towards the Action-Drama Queen. “It saddens me that naysayers are saying she’’s only doing this for publicity. Seriously? She could’ve just not do anything and enjoy the comforts of her home but instead she went out of her way to help people.”
She then asked Angel’s critics: “Now the question is, what have YOU done? Have you done your part in helping? Have you done your part to inspire? Or are you just a keyboard warrior who tries to generate more hate that the world doesn’t need?”
In the end, Bubbles gave these critics asome advice. She emphasized, “Think, pray, love. Always spread kindness. We’ve got too much of the bad stuff already.”
On the comment section, host Ruffa Gutierrez said: “Angel is beautiful both inside and out. That’s why we love her!!”
Fashion blogger also commented and applauded Angel’s volunteerism. She said, “It takes a lot of someone to do what she did. Such an awesome job! I don’t know you @therealangellocsin, but what an amazing act!!”
Ahahaha
Meanwhile, TV host Marc Nelson gave props to Bubbles by commenting clap and thumbs up emoticons. Blogger and actress Bianca Valerio also showed her approval to the post by commenting three hearts of emoticons.
Meanwhile, Angel’s rumored boyfriend, Neil Arce took to Facebook to defend the acclaimed actress. He wrote, “I just read someone’s post her na ang sabi, ‘When you do charity, do it quietly.’ Saw the comments section as well. Ang dami nilang alam. The person you are talking about went to the most dangerous area in the Philippines unannounced and without bodyguards or even government supervision.”
Neil also stressed that Angel risked her life to help the refugees in Iligan City. He even revealed that Angel spent her own money to visit and help our the Marawi Clash victims. He said, “She risked her own life to help our countrymen. Media picked it up on her 2nd day there. Hindi po ion ipinatawag or hindi pinlano. She spent her own money and wanted to do it as quietly as possible.”
Just like Bubbles, Neil questioned the ones who questioned Angel. He pointed out, “What have you done to help? What have you done to inspire people to help? Pati ‘yung mga nagco-comment puro press pa kayo. Bring it on. Sulat nyo na ko ng masama, wala akong paki.”
Moreover, he stressed, “I know there are still good people out there but you people bashing people who are just trying to help others you are scum.”
Editor’s Note: Oh well, these crab-minded people would always look for troubles. They would criticize Angel like they have done so much more than the actress.
I remember when Vice President Leni Robredo appealed for donations to help those who have been affected by Marawi siege. These ignorants people judged her and even called the Vice President’s action as ‘pa-cute.’
What could we expect? The Philippines is the Bashing Capital of the World! Charot (but pun intended).
