- Shaina Magdayao revealed her desire to enter the world of piety about 4 years ago.
- Her dream to become a nun, however, did not materialize.
- Hence, the actress built a foundation to help people in need instead.
- The Kapamilya actress also tackled some topics like quitting showbiz very, very soon.
- But, according to Shaina, she has a contract with ABS-CBN so she will see what will happen.
Shaina Magdayao made a shocking revelation during her interview with the press at the set visit of her series “The Better Half”.
The actress admitted she planned to quit the showbiz because she wanted to become a nun 4 years ago. According to Shaina, “Kasi parang feeling ko, may calling ako to serve. And at that time, malapit kasi ako sa mga madre. And hanggang ngayon naman, malapit ako sa mga madre.”
However, Shaina stated that the plan did not materialize due to her commitments with ABS-CBN, her home network. She explained, “Ilang beses ko nang sinabi na ayoko nang mag-showbiz or magku-quit na ako, magma-madre na lang ako, wala, eh. Laging may trabaho.”
Since her dream to become a nun was scrapped, she built a foundation that she called Smile Cares instead. She pointed out that it was her longtime dream to help people in need.
“Ngayon, may persion ako which is the foundation and I guess, I realized na you don’t really have to be (a nun) to serve. So ‘yon yung pinagkakaabalahan ngayon,” the actress said.
In addition, she announced that there is already a ‘good samaritan’ who donated a 1-hectare field to her foundation. Shaina also stressed that Smile Cares’ first project is sustainable farming.
Is this her preparation for her goodbye in showbiz? She quipped “Eh kasi, gumi-give-up ‘yung katawan ko talaga ngayon, eh.”
“I just want to take care of my body better kasi hindi naman ako ganu’n ka-conscious ever since, eh. Pero ngayon, dahil nga nagkakasakit ako, mas nagiging conscious ako.
“But ever since naman, conscious ako sa finances ko and sa investment ko and alam n’yo naman na into business talaga ‘yung family ko.
“And siguro, ang laking tulong na I feel useful na maski hindi ako nag-aartista, parang feeling ko through the foundation, I’ll be able to serve also,” Shaina added.
When asked if she has plans to quit in showbiz after “The Better Half”, she answered, “Well, I’m under contract (with ABS-CBN), so, wala akong choice. But I have one more year, but that’s one more year, let’s see what will happen after.”
Meanwhile, due to high TV ratings, her soap with Carlo Aquino, JC de Vera and Denise Laurel has been extended for second season.
