- PTV4 has abruptly terminated the contract of newscaster Kathy San Gabriel.
Government owned and controlled television station PTV4 has axed one of its brilliant reporter and newscaster Kathy San Gabriel.
No less than Kathy herself confirmed the news about her sudden exit from the government TV station.
In her Facebook post, San Gabriel related how she was fired by PTV4 management and was not given the proper way of ending her stint with the network.
“Mamayang gabi sana ang huli kong newscast.Ngunit ikinalulungkot kong hindi ko magagawa iyon. Nagdesisyon po ang pamunuan ng People’s Television na huwag akong papasukin mamayang gabi,” she wrote.
Kathy was supposed to have her last day in her newscast Friday, June 30. But a day before, she received a text message from PTV4 management advising her that she can no longer come to work on Friday.
Before her PTV4 stint, Kathy was a known as a reporter and correspondent in ABS-CBN, DZMM and ANC. The height of her career was when she anchored TV Patrol as a pinch in for Korina Sanchez whenever the latter is out on leave.
She first joined PTV4 in 2006 when it was then called National Broadcasting Network or NBN4.

“No words. I was informed by PTV management two days ago that today will be my last day at work. Kahit malungkot, tinanggap ko ang naging desisyon ng pamunuan ng network. Mamayang gabi sana ang huli kong newscast. Bagamat alam kong magiging emosyonal, gusto ko sanang kunin ang pagkakataong iyon para magpasalamat sa inyo sa pagsubaybay sa mahigit isang dekada kong pagbabalita sa PTV. Ngunit ikinalulungkot kong hindi ko magagawa iyon. Nagdesisyon po ang pamunuan ng People’s Television na huwag akong papasukin mamayang gabi. I was not given the dignity of a goodbye.”
