Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson on Friday, June 23 has admitted committing mistakes in spreading fake news online.
In an interview with GMA Network’s Unang Hirit, the Assistant Secretary defended herself from the controversies linked to her with regards to fake news and instead dragged the names of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as peddlers of “fake news”.
“Bakit yung blogger na tulad ko, pinalalaki yung maliit na pagkakamaling ganon pero hindi kino-call out yung mas malalaking fake news na pinapakalat ng katulad nina Senator Trillanes at VP Leni,” she said.
Uson was pointing to Trillanes’ interview with BBC’s Stephen Sackur when the senator said shabu is not the big problem in the country and Vice President Robredo’s video speech at the sidelines of UN Narcotics Body convention where she accounted 7,000 drug-related killings.
She also added “Yung mga pagkakamali ko, pray for our soldiers, ang nakakalungkot yung mga pagkakamali ng mga VP Leni na nagpakalat ng fake news diyan sa UN Narcotics body, sinasabi na 7,000 ang drug related killings.
Just yesterday, Uson said she welcomed Senator Joel Villanueva’s Anti-Fake New Bill so that spreading of “fake news” will be put to an end.
But in today’s interview, Mocha seemed to backtrack her earlier statement saying she neither support or oppose the bill because it needs to be studied carefully first.
But nonetheless, she still wants the bill to push through so that fake news spreader will be punished.
