Performing inside a bar at Resorts World Manila during the dawn of June 2, It’s Showtime’s very own “Tawag ng Tanghalan” hurado Mitoy Yonting was unaware of the shooting spree happening from the second floor until he saw people frantically running down.
Mitoy said during an interview with ABS-CBN, narrating that he was performing at Bar 360, located at the ground floor, along with his band.
Casino brawls, according to Mitoy, were always common in RWM. But when he heard the gunshots and another wave of people fleeing from the second floor, he advised everyone at the bar to head immediately to the dressing room.
“Kasi sa dressing room, may exit at doon kami lumabas,” he said.
It was not an easy escape as the gunshots got louder which caused the performer and his company to find another way out.
They finally exited the premises through the Duty Free area and ran away to the nearby Villamor Air Base with more or less 100 people, Mitoy also reported that they were able to go home past two in the morning.
As for his car and belongings, they were left behind at the bar. Mitoy also advised everyone to always be alert and aware of their surroundings.
“Siguro sabi ko pwedeng maging praning pero in a good way na ‘yung alerto ka.
