Singer Lea Salonga is set to make Pinoys proud once again as she will be returning to Tony Awards after 25 years.
“The Voice Teens” coach will be presenting an award at the 71st edition of Tony Awards this Sunday, June 11 (Monday morning in Manila) at the Radio City Hall in New York City.
In a Facebook post, Lea revealed that she will leave the Philippines soon to attend the prestigious ceremony. She wrote: “I’m leaving on a jet plane tonight… FOR [TONY AWARDS]!!! It’s official, I’ll be presenting at the Tony Awards this Sunday, June 11! It’s theater’s biggest night, and I am thrilled to be heading there!!!”
She even expressed her excitement as she will be taking selfies with her fellow Broadway artists. She posted on her Twitter account, “Making a list in my head of the selfies I intend to take on Sunday!”
The Broadway artist also posted a tweet addressing to Rachel Bloom, the star of the US television show “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” where Lea guest-starred in during its first season’s finale.
She then tweeted a shoutout to Lin-Manuel Miranda, best known for his work on the ground-breaking musical “Hamilton” and also a multi-awarded Tony Award winner.
Back in 1991, the 46-year-old bagged that Best Actress in a Musical award for her role as Kim in “Miss Saigon” — making her the first Asian artist to win a Tony Award.
The Tony Awards 2017 will be hosted by multi-awarded Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey.
