The Independent Critics releases its candidates for its annual list of the most beautiful and the most handsome faces in the world.
Led by TC Candler, the list has been published annually since 1990s.
The list was not as popular to Filipinos before, but the inclusion of Kapamilya actresses Liza Soberano and Kathryn Bernardo in 2015 made headlines nationwide. Since then, most of Filipinos anticipate the annual list to check if their idols made it in the top 100.
Last year, TC Candler declared Liza as the second most beautiful woman in the world — the highest for any Filipino act in its list. Kathryn, on the other hand, jumped from 80th to 69th position for the following year.
This year, the “My Ex and Whys” star and the “La Luna Sangre” star have proven that they have the most beautiful face in local showbiz as TC Candler announced them as its candidate for this year’s annual list.
To make the competition more exciting, it was announced that “It’s Showtime” host Nadine Lustre also made it to its list of candidates. TC Candler also confirmed the inclusion of Kapamilya actresses Jessy Mendiola and Julia Barretto.
As for the most handsome list, Enrique Gil, Daniel Padilla, and James Reid are currently the only Filipino actors in the candidates.
According to its website, The Independent Critics’ annual list is not a popularity contest and it is definitely not country specific. It is not about the sexiest body or the most famous celebrity. Rather, the list attempts to inform and broaden public opinion instead of reflecting it.
Meanwhile, the group has yet to confirm whether some Kapuso stars are going to make it in the list of candidates or not.
