Newly appointed Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson preached about the pros and cons of being in social media in this day and age.
“Kung hindi mo kayang ma-bully, wag kang mag-social media,” Uson said in a report by Jun Veneracion on “24 Oras.”
Mocha’s known for maintaining her blog “Mocha Uson Blog” where she condemns the supposed “bias media” and those who criticize the Duterte administration.
“Everytime na tayo ay susulat, social media man o mainstream media, isipin natin ‘yung buong bansa at ating mga kabataan. Maganda ‘yung constructive criticism. Hindi lang ‘yung maninira ka for the sake na maninira ka,” she said.
She also denied spreading “fake news” as observed by the Filipino netizens.
“Hindi naman po totoo ‘yan. Hindi po ako nagre-repost ng fake news… hindi fake news ang opinyon,” Uson said.
Mocha got accused as a fake source of news when she reposted a photo of of a nine-year old rape victim and linked it to denounce Duterte’s critics over their failure to condemn the assault and support the government’s anti-crime policies.

It was later revealed that the photo was that of a Brazilian girl who was raped in Altamira December of 2014. Still, Mocha didn’t tag it as an act of spreading false news because she argued that she only reposted the content.
Another instance was when she claimed that a corporation owed the government some P96 billion in taxes based on “Article 263” of the Philippine Constitution. She later admitted to getting it wrong that time and apologized.
Mocha stressed that most of her posts are legit and based on facts.
“Unang-una po hindi po ako nagpapalaganap ng fake news. Dahil nabanggit ko po kanina, I indicate my sources, ma’m. Nandoon po iyon. At karamihan ay galing po sa mainstream media. At, as much as I can, kinukuha ko po directly from government agencies.”
When asked about the towering number of her bashers, Mocha responded firmly, “Hindi ko na po pinag-aksayahan ng oras ‘yan dahil napakadami ng problema ng bayan natin.”
New assignment
The President gave her the position last May 9 at the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
She’s confident with her job description which is: promote in social media the achievements and promising projects and policies of the Duterte administration.
