As Vice Ganda personally accepted his award for being the Phenomenal Box Office Star at Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation awarding ceremony, the comedian recalled his past experience in comedy.
Duringn his acceptance speech, Vice Ganda testified that being successful is not as simple like what others think.
He recalled, “Sa mga hindi nakakaalam, I have started so hard to make people laugh 19 years ago. Nineteen years ago po nu’ng nagsimula ako magpatawa ng mga tao. Six years ago lang po nu’ng magsimulang mabigyan ng mga award.”
He also added, “I was working hard. I was praying very hard and I was patiently waiting. Because my success did not happen overnight. It took me a lot of failures and disappointments bago ako napunta sa position ko ngayong gabi.”
The 40-year-old then encouraged the audience to never stop believing.
He emphasized, “Sana po ang award na ito, maka-inspire pa ng maraming newbies, struggling performers to just keep the faith. Keep on believing. If it happened to me, it could also happen to you. It is happening to me right now because it is my time. You just have to wait for your own time. Lahat tayo makakaranas ng tagumpay. If you are not willing to wait for it, it means that you are not deserving.”
Vice and Coco Martin both received the coveted award on May 14 for the success of “The Super Parental Guardians”, the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
