MANILA, 26 May 2017 – Twitter is the best place to see what’s happening in the world of K-Pop and to talk about it. Riding the K-Pop wave or Hallyu on Twitter, the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival 2017 (@KPOPCoverDance) will introduce a new award category – Twitter Popular Choice Award. The two-day Festival finale will be exclusively broadcasted live from @KPOPCoverDance on Twitter via Periscope to bring K-Pop closer to fans across the world.

Twitter Popular Choice Award
As they journey to become cover dance champions, finalists will stand a chance to win the coveted Twitter Popular Choice Award by simply engaging with their fans on Twitter. From 26 May to 2 June 2017, K-Pop fans will be in for a treat as finalists are encouraged to Tweet photos, stickers, videos, live video on Periscope, and more of their preparation and participation at the Festival. The finalist dance group with the maximum engagement (i.e. most mentions, Likes, Retweets and Replies) on their Twitter team account and the most mentions of their related team hashtags on Twitter by 2 June, 6.30 pm KST / 5.30 pm PHT will walk away with the Twitter Popular Choice Award.
The winning group of the award will be announced at the semi-finals on 2 June 2017 and have their video shared by Twitter, K-Pop Cover Dance Festival and AllKPop to millions of K-Pop fans around the world.
Catch K-Pop Cover Dance Festival live on Twitter from Seoul, South Korea
Fans worldwide will be able to catch the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival semi-finals and finals live on Twitter and Periscope. The semi-finals will be held on 2 June from 5pm KST, and successful teams will battle it out at the finals on 3 June afternoon. To watch the competition live, fans simply have to follow the @KPOPCoverDance account on Twitter.

The international amateur K-Pop cover dance competition is currently in its seventh year. Nearly 2,500 audition entries were received globally this year from countries including the US, Mexico, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and of course South Korea. This June, the finalists from each of the nine markets will travel to Seoul to battle it out at the cover dance competition.
