- Jenny Ferre of TAPE Inc. said that the once hit “Eat Bulaga” segment, ‘Kalyeserye,’ is not dead.
- She clarified that the Kalyeserye tour, “KS sa US”, were the continuations of the hit segment.
- The SVP also tackled the possible return of Kalyeserye on television.
If you thought the Kalyeserye is over, think again!
Last month, the love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza had flown to the US for “KS sa US” tour.
The first show wrapped up at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on April 9; while the other one concluded at King Theatre sa Brooklyn, New York on April 12.
Aside from AlDub, the show still featured the Three Lolas of the hit television series — Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros and Jose Manalo.
And according to Jenny Ferre, senior vice-president for creatives and operations of TAPE, Inc., the Kalyeserye tour in Los Angeles and New York would be the continuation for the segment.
She explained, “We decided it’s about time to meet the fans abroad naman. Perfect timing lang ‘yun. Okay si Alden, okay si Maine, okay ang mga Lola. Para naman makalabas sila at makita sila ng fans abroad.”
Jenny stressed that the recent shows had two different set lists. She revealed, “Hindi siya repeat lang ng Kalyeserye sa ‘Eat Bulaga’. Ang istorya nu’n is the continuation of the Kalyeserye. Iba ‘yung nangyari sa Los Angeles, iba ‘yung nangyari sa New York.”
The SVP also emphasized that if ever there would be a second tour for Kalyeserye, the story and the set list of it would just follow the recent one.
She elaborated, “So kung saan man kami damputin, ‘yun ‘yung kasunod ng istoryang ‘yun. It’s a chill show. Gusto lang namin tumawa sila. Ganu’n lang. The shows were done several months after walang Kalyeserye. Sila ‘yung unang nakakita na nagsama ‘yung tatlong lola at si Alden and Maine and ‘yung kambal. May mga bagong Rogelio — kasi nga ang mga lola nasa abroad so dapat imported ang mga Rogelio.”
Is there any chance for Kalyeserye to return on television?
“Hindi siya patay. Andyan lang siya sa tabi,” said Jenny.
“There’s a possibility that it could happen on TV again. Maybe a new twist, a new story, or we bring back the Lolas again. It depends on our gut feel e, kung pwedeng ibalik. Or it could be a monthly special, a weekly special,” she added.
“Ngayong patapos na ‘yung soap opera nila (‘Destined to Be Yours’) and they have more time to be on ‘Eat Bulaga’, then we will have more time to think up of something else. It could be Kalyeserye or a spin-off or a new thing for them.”
Meanwhile, “Destined to Be Yours”, AlDub’s debut series, is scheduled to air its final episode on May 26. It it set to be replaced by another soap “My Love from the Star”, starring Jennylyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva.
But AlDub Nation should not feel downhearted about the news, because their favorite love team is set to do another flick after a short break. Regarding the details of Alden and Maine’s new film, GMA Network has yet to made an announcement.
