After being bashed for shaking a cherry blossom tree in Japan, Teen King Daniel Padilla was bashed again this time for his performance during the Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation night.
Veteran singer Richard Reynoso openly criticized the young actor on his Facebook account publicly (in verbatim):
Halehalehoys!!! Iba na talaga ang panahon ngayon. Dati, pag kumakanta ka sa ‘beauty pageant,’ hinaharana mo yung mga kandidata and make them feel na sila ang pinakamagandang babae at that very moment. Ngayon, mukhang backdrop na lang ang mga kandidata at di na din yata required na nasa tono ka sa pagkanta. Nuba? #binibiningpilipinas2017 #walanamangganyanan #sobrangdismayado #ginawangvideokeangbigdome #ibantalagangayon #wasak #walanabangiba
Reynoso is already expecting that fans of Daniel Padilla might retaliate against him after he openly expressed his disappointment over Padilla’s performance during the beauty pageant’s final night.
Reynoso even pointed out, “Kung si Karla [Estrada, Padilla’s own mom] nga, may karapatan na mag-comment over newbie and aspiring singers as judge in “It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan,” siguro naman, puwede rin naman akong magbigay ng sarili kong komento.”
Reynoso feels that nowadays, instead of serenading beauty pageant candidates, they now only serve as backdrop to the artist himself. And Reynoso was so disappointed that carrying the right tune is no longer a requirement for singers to perform in a beauty pageant. He even wrote a hashtag that says it seems like Padilla only did a videoke-type of performance at the Big Dome.
Reynoso says he doesn’t really care if fans of Padilla would get mad at him. “Expected ko na ‘yan. Mga fanatics sila eh. Yung sa akin, personal lang yung kumento ko. Pero kung gusto nila na mas mag-improve pa ang idol nila, dapat open sila for constructive criticisms, yung okay lang na may pumapansin sa hindi magandang performance niya,” he explained.
“It wouldn’t hurt if Daniel would invest in voice lessons and performance workshops,” he suggests. “As a viewer, I really felt so frustrated while I was watching it [Padilla’s performance] kasi dati kong ginagawa yun eh. Parang nabalewala ‘yung lahat ng pagod at hirap ko sa pag-rehearse nun’g Makita ko yung performance niya.”
“Plus mapapanood pa sa ibang bansa na dati kinatatakutan ang Pinoy pagdating sa pag-perform.”
Richard Reynoso is known for his hit OPM songs “Hindi Ko Kaya,” “Paminsan-minsan,” “Kahit Sino,” and “Maalaala Mo Pa Rin.”
