International Kpop sensation Sandara Park swears she hasn’t had a boyfriend in years. She admits there were ‘mutual understanding’ and ‘almost there but without label’ relationship status with other guys, but none that she was ‘brave enough’ to take to the next level.
At the hype of her 2NE1 days, the hugely popular K-Pop girl group that disbanded in 2016, Sandara says her contract stipulated that she’s not allowed to get into romantic relationships.
“So I was like, ‘Okay, fine, no boyfriend!,” said Sandara. Now, she’s free to do anything she wants to do. But she says she still has no time to go on dating. She says she’s happy to focus on her career and takes pleasure spending time with her cats.
“I have gone lazy about my love life. I don’t have a strong desire to have a boyfriend right now…I’m not even looking, unlike when I was in my 20’s. Plus it would be difficult with my cute cats around. I’d have a tough time leaving home,” she explained.
Rumors have it that she’s playing beautiful music with TV host Robi Domingo. There have been talks that she’s the reason why the latter and ex girlfriend Gretchen Ho broke up. She was also being linked to singer-rapper Kwon Ji-Yong, better known as G-Dragon, the leader of the boy group Big Bang.
Sandara vehemently denied all of these issues. “I have heard about the rumor [about Robi and I] but that isn’t true. We’re just good friends. These things aren’t good t hear because it could affect our friendship,” she said.
Sandara even said that G-Dragon is almost like a brother to her saying that both of them come from the same talent management company. “I have known him since 2004—totoy pa s’ya nun,” she quipped. “I am not sure [how the issue came about] because we aren’t doing any project together. But just the same, I am thankful to all out followers.”
But what is Sandara’s kind of guy? “I want to meet someone who has the same interests—fashion, music, and cats—so that we will have something to talk about. In terms of looks, I prefer someone slim and cute. I don’t like overly muscled guys because I’m petite—feeling ko hindi bagay!,” she said giggling.
In local showbiz scene, Sandara hopes to be able to work with John Lloyd Cruz in the future. “Maybe we [John Lloyd and I] could do a romantic-comedy film. That would be interesting!”
Sandara’s debut Korean film, “One Step” is about a woman who loses all her memories after figuring in a car accident, and is afflicted with a condition called “colored hearing—a type of synesthesia in which heard sounds involuntarily evoke an experience of color. The film is directed by Juhn Jai-hong and is now in theatres nationwide.
