Best of friends Lauren Young and Saab Magalona expressed their disappointment over the “naano” remark of Senador Tito Sotto on May 3.
Lauren is the younger sister of Miss World 2013 Megan Young and is currently a Kapuso artist. On the other hand, Saab is the daughter of the late rapper Francis Magalona.
The two joined forces to lambaste the controversial senator on their respective Twitter accounts.
Lauren tweeted, “Sotto making fun of single parents this time? I mean, how many uneducated statements can you make before you actually learn to shut up.”
The “Legally Blind” actress also stressed that she was once raised solely by her mother at one point in her life. She then emphasized that the situation that Tito was joking about is not a joke.
In the end, she dared the “Eat Bulaga” host: “‘Na-ano’ sige nga say it. I dare you to say it.”
On the other hand, Saab reposted a clip of ANC where Sotto can be hear the offensive joke. She wrote on her tweet: “May mas babastos pa ba dito?”
On her next tweet, Saab has given her own definition of the word “Tito.” She quipped, “Tito (tē-taw) n. Creepy guy you see at reunions. Stares at your legs. Cracks a misogynistic ‘joke.’ The only one drinking beer at 10am.”
Meanwhile, female celebrities such as “The Voice Teens” coach Lea Salonga, TV host Bianca Gonzalez and “I Can Do That” star Pokwang showed their support to single moms or parents who might felt offended by the senator’s insensitive remark.
