Katarina Rodriguez insisted that she will not resign as the Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017.
At her interview with entertainment editor Ricky Lo, Katarina said she was confused when a certain rumor about her resignation circulated this week.
According to the rumor, which was posted by Facebook page Pageantology 101, Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (PBCI) held an emergency meeting and it would discuss dethronement, crown switching and backstage gown ripping.
Katarina, however, clarified that the meeting was a mandatory one. She also explained, “My phone was cut for a while so I really didn’t know what’s going on and then when I got my line back on, I was like, ‘Woooh, what’s going on?’”
She then explained, “I was confused. I thought I was… I was really confused but no… like what? I wear it one time only. I didn’t even got to really wear it without looking at it so…
“That was never said… never. I think every one was just curious. I guess people don’t sleep so when I finally woke up.”
She further elaborated, “I was messaging them and said, ‘My God, girls what’s going on?’ And then my family was also confused as to what was happening but yeah, I think it’s just really something that was. I don’t know why anyone would say that without hearing it from me or seeing text message or me writing it down which why I responded in my post on Instagram and on Twitter.
“I didn’t want to respond to anyone else because I don’t know where it was coming from and one general statement I think is all that should be needed.”
Meanwhile, on her interview with CNN Philippines, Katarina stressed she was sleep the whole time when the rumors of her resignation broke out. She then quipped at the end, “I guess this is what happens when you sleep for 25 hours.”
