- Jennylyn Mercado’s new show My Love From The Star replaces AlDub’s “Destined To Be Yours” on its timeslot and the actress feels pressured about it.
- “My Love From The Star” is a Korean remake from GMA Network which will star Jennylyn Mercado opposite newcomer Gil Cuerva.
- “My Love From The Star” will have its pilot episode on May 29, Monday on GMA 7.
The Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado recently admitted that she feels pressured when she has learned that her new teleserye, the Filipino adaptation of the Korean romantic comedy “My Love From The Star” (MLFTS) will be replacing “Destined To Be Yours” (DTBY) of the phenomenal AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.
“Destined To Be Yours” has ended last Friday, May 26, on GMA Network where as the pilot episode of Jennylyn’s new TV series will be airing on Monday, May 29.
Jennylyn is paired opposite newcomer Gil Cuerva which somehow adds more pressure on the actress. This will be an acid test if pairing her with Gil would show their chemistry on screen and if it will be accepted by the public.
“May pressure, siyempre kasi AlDub ‘yan, e di ba?,” said Jennylyn in an interview.
Jen also said she’s not sure if it’s true that she has K-Pop fans who might be able to support her new show.
“Talaga? Totoo ba? Hindi ko alam,” she said.
But the actress encourages fans to watch MLFTS even if they’re not fans of Koreanovela. The Kapuso star said she’s doing a different role this time where she showcases her versatility. For a change, she’s challenged to show her funny side in this romantic comedy.
Jennylyn says she’s also equally excited for the airing of MLFTS.
“Siyempre! Sobrang happ kami kasi finally, eto na siya, airing na! Last year pa dapat, pero sa tinagal-tagal nito at least mas napaganda pa namin,” she beams proudly.
“My Love From The Star” is the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean series.
“Excited kami na kinakabahan kung ma-meet namin yung expectations ng mga tao. Napanood na nila ito eh, so kailangan kahit paano mailaban din namin ng kahit konti,” she revealed.
Jen knows that the pressure is on her because she’s paired with a newcomer on this show.
“In fairness naman kay Gil, he’s very willing to learn and open siya sa mga suggestions to further improve his craft. At napakabait na tao,” Jen says about her leading man.
Jen will be playing the challenging role of Steffi Chavez.
“The series is very light when compared from the ones I’ve done before. But this is the most difficult role I’ve done so far. Kasi ‘yung character ko dito, kailangan kong umarte na masaya, luka-luka ganyan, pero kailangan ‘yung mata ko, makikita mo na malungkot. Ganun so mahirap siya,” she said.
