ABS-CBN’s new PrimeTanghali spread love and good vibes to many viewers nationwide as its newest series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” and “It’s Showtime” scored high in national TV ratings last Monday (May 1).
The much-awaited reunion of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson in “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” instantly captivated viewers as the show’s pilot episode garnered a national TV rating of 17%, compared to its rival program “Trops” that only got 10.2%, according to data from Kantar Media. Netizens also shared their excitement online as the show’s official hashtag #ILAIWorldPremiere topped the trending topics on Twitter and earned thousands of tweets.
The pilot provided a glimpse into the simple lives of childhood friends Bianca and Gabriel (Kim and Gerald). However, little do they know that their lives are already connected because their mothers Maila (Bing Loyzaga) and Victoria (Ayen Laurel) used to be best friends and athletes, but were separated by their dreams and love for the same man.
Meanwhile, “It’s Showtime” brought laughter and good vibes to viewers nationwide as it scored a national TV rating of 16.3%, keeping its lead over “Eat Bulaga” (12.7%). Netizens also joined the fun with the show’s official hashtag #ShowtimeHappyLaborDay earning a spot in the list of trending topics on Twitter.
“It’s Showtime” also ushered in the new month with its newest segment “Weight Lang,” where selected madlang people guess the exact weight of everyday objects. The winning contestant takes home P20,000.
