DZMM TeleRadyo continues to widen its reach as it delivers news and public service to more Filipinos nationwide as a free TV channel on ABS-CBN TVplus.
Now, people all over the country are able to watch the programs of DZMM TeleRadyo, which began as ABS-CBN’s flagship AM radio station in Mega Manila almost 31 years ago and started broadcasting on cable TV in 2007.
ABS-CBN TVplus is the digital terrestrial television service of the country’s leading media and entertainment company, and is available in 15 key areas in the country such as Metro Manila, Davao, , Metro Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo, Bacolod, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Tarlac, Benguet, and Cavite, with over two million digital boxes sold nationwide.
In a trade event held this month to celebrate DZMM TeleRadyo’s 10th year on air, ABS-CBN News head Ging Reyes said more change and innovation is coming to DZMM as it continues to focus on its very essence – news and public service.
“Change happens and whatever innovation we think of, the essence of DZMM TeleRadyo will remain the same, which is the commitment to public service and news gathering,” she said.
Ging said TeleRadyo viewers can expect improvements in broadcast design and video quality, and a new studio this year for DZMM. Moreover, in terms of content, they have also strengthened its lineup with a 10pm live telecast of late night newscast “Bandila” with anchors Karen Davila, Ces Orena-Drilon, and Julius Babao, before the news program’s airing on ABS-CBN after “Tonight With Boy Abunda.” DZMM also has a daily offering of current affairs programs at 2pm such as “Rated K,” “Matanglawin,” “Ipaglaban Mo,” “S.O.C.O,” and “Mukha.”
Amid the innovations, DZMM TeleRadyo’s strength remains to be its team of respected and experienced journalists, who are always ready to deliver news, information, and commentary that matter to Filipinos.
In the trade event, anchors like Karen Davila, Ces Drilon, Julius Babao, Ahwel Paz, Niña Corpuz, Doc Luisa Puyat, Tina Marasigan, Tony Velasquez, and Doris Bigornia, and reporters Zhander Cayabyab and Raya Capulong were able to bond with people who have been supporting DZMM for many years.
Meanwhile, DZMM TeleRadyo also continues to bring joy and public service to barangays in Metro and Mega Manila via “DZMM Kapamilya Day,” which will continue until June. The event features a DZMM program live on-site where important national and community based issues are tackled. Zumba sessions, livelihood seminars and a birthday treat for residents are also staple offerings in every visit. It also recently held this year’s “Buntis Congress,” which has been educating and assisting expectant mothers for 15 years.
