“Pamilya Ordinaryo” stars Hasmin Kilip and Ronwaldo Martin have won top acting awards at the Harlem International Film Festival held in New York.
Hasmin won Best Actress while the younger brother of Kapamilya actor Coco Martin, Ronwaldo, bagged the Best Actor award. The awards were given for their roles as teenage parents who steal on the streets to live.
This is Hasmin’s fifth international win and Ronwaldo’s first acting award.
In an interview with Philippine Daily Inquirer, Ronwaldo said, “Finally, I got to hook a trophy. I offer this award to my family — my mama and papa, to my siblings, especially kuya Dheng (Coco) and my grandmother.”
“Pamilya Ordinaryo” is directed by Eduardo Roy Jr, and emerged as the Best Film from the 2016 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival awarding ceremony.
The film also won the BNL People’s Choice Award at the 2016 Venice Days film festival.
