Claudine Barretto and Paolo Contis condemned the “naano” remark of senator and “Eat Bulaga” host Tito Sotto.
Claudine and Paolo found their fame by appearing as one of the cast of the teen-oriented show “Ang TV” in the 90s. They also starred in the sitcom “Oki Doki Dok” that eventually adapted into a movie.
As a single mom, Claudine expressed her disapproval to the senator’s lame joke. On her Instagram account, the actress proudly shared that she’s a “proud single mother.”
She reminded the senator, “Senator Tito Sotto, I am a single mother of 2 and im proud of myself and I have so much respect para sa lahat ng ma single mothers na tumatayong nanay at tatay.
“[P]ara sa akin bayani ang mga single mothers, wala ho kaming dayoff, sweldo o benefits bilang isang single mother.”
She added, “Ninong namin kayo ni Raymart sa kasal so siguro naman po alam ninyong hindi ako NA ANO LANG!!!”
Meanwhile, Paolo defended his former partner, Kapuso actress LJ Reyes, from the senator. On his Instagram, he emphasized that a joke should be funny.
He wrote, “Ang alam ko sa joke dapat nakakatawa… hindi nakaka offend… single motherhood should not be joked about…”
Paolo also stressed the the senator doesn’t has talent in comedy. He continued, “[W]ell, what can I expect, hindi ka nga pala magaling magpatawa kahit kailan.”
He then tagged the Instagram account of LJ to commend the actress. “@ljreyes is one great mother and I am very proud of her! Malamang mas lalaki pa siya kesa sayo!”
Other celebrities, such as actresses Kaye Abad and Chynna Ortaleza, showed their support on Paolo by liking his post.
