Maine Mendoza knows that when it comes to acting, she still has a lot to learn.
The Dubsmash Queen has trained with actress/director Gina Alajar with onscreen partner Alden Richards last year to prepare for her role in “Destined To Be Yours” (DTBY).
In an interview, Maine even gave herself a rank of 5 out of 10 in terms of acting. She knew there’s a lot room for improvement as far as acting is concerned.
Recently, Maine’s acting ability was pitted against Thea Tolentino who was discovered via the GMA Network show, “Protege,” a reality-based celebrity search.
Known for playing a villain in most of her projects, viewers of DTBY says that Maine’s portrayal of her character falls short when she’s on the same scene as Thea. Thea’s naturally powerful and convincing as the secondary antagonist in DTBY.
Viewers says maybe Maine should be given roles that are more like her in real life. By doing such, then maybe Maine would be able to act more naturally and comfortably.
Her role in the film “My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore” was better when compared to the rags-to-riches or Cinderella type of role she was given in DTBY.
In real life, everyone knows that Maine comes from a well-to-do family. She lives a comfortable life, studied in good schools and belongs to an affluent circle in the society.
So why would they give her that provincial simple lass role all the time? Maine would be more effective when she’s allowed to be herself, maybe then she would be able to express herself more.
Now, maybe we should also stop asking why DTBY will soon be axed on television, disappointing many of AlDub fans. Honestly, we’d rather see Maine doing what she does best, dubsmashing her way to our hearts.
