Since it debuted in September 2016, “The Greatest Love” has gained positive feedback from viewers locally and overseas. It is undeniably one of the most popular shows in the afternoon for showing a real-life story of a mother who suffers from dementia.
Now that the show narrows down to its last three weeks, many people, especially netizens, have felt disconsolation.
And although its fans didn’t have the chance to see “The Greatest Love” on primetime, many people could still see this wonderful show in cinemas someday.
Well, let’s cross our fingers for this one.
In an interview after the final presscon of “The Greatest Love”, I asked Ms Ginny Monteagudo-Ocampo, the Executive-in-charge of Production, if they could adapt this wonderful series into a film.
“Try kong i-explain ‘yan with Tita Malou (Santos, COO for Star Creatives). I’ll talk to her. Kakausapin ko s’ya,” she simply said.
It might be recalled that Star Cinema already did it during the heydays of “Mula Sa Puso” in 1999. Also, towards the end of 2005, GMA Network turned “Mulawin” into a film—almost a year after it conquered the Philippine televisions.
Meanwhile, Ms Sylvia Sanchez, “The Greatest Love” main character, showed her astonishment as I told her about Ms Ginny’s remarks.
She uttered, “Ooooooh, talaga? Talaga?”
“Magandang balita ‘yan, napatawa mo ako. ‘Di ko alam ‘yan, ikaw ang unang nagsabi n’yan,” she continued.
Ms Sylvia also said she will still remain thankful whether Ma’am Malou will approve the proposal to turn her series into a film or not.
“Thank you. Thank you! Kung ma-approve, good. Kung hindi, okay naman din. Kasi maganda naman ‘yung result sa TV.
“Pero kung matupad man ‘yan, I’m sure gagawan nila ‘yan ng paraan. Sobrang thank you.”
Additionally, Dimples Romana, who played Amanda in the series, said it would be exciting if The Greatest Love” will end up in cinemas.
“S’yempre nakaka-excite ‘yun noh! Tsaka iba kasi ‘yung naidulot sa’min na epekto ng ‘The Greatest Love’ and I feel also for the viewers.
“So bakit naman hindi? Tsaka kung Star Cinema naman ang gagawa, wow, ’di ba?”
In the end, most of us would agree that this beautifully crafted story deserves to be seen in cinemas someday.
Watch the last three weeks of “The Greatest Love” as it will remind us to show more affection to our parents, especially our moms, while they’re still sturdy and lively.
