Kapamilya star and former 2NE1 Sandara Park recently sat down for an interview with MyDaily. The Asia’s Darling talked about her plans for her solo debut in South Korea.
Translated in English, she revealed: “Honestly, I would like to release a solo album this summer.
“However it hasn’t been discussed yet with my boss Yang Hyun Suk. He may get surprised if he reads the headlines.”
The 32-year-old said that she has been visiting with the producers of her agency, YG Entertainment, “I’ve been meeting with YG producers and hanging around in the studio.”
Sandara also expressed her views on what genre of music she would release soon. “I feel I should go with something different compared to 2NE1’s music genre.
“It’s because there are some things I can do as a member of a group versus a solo artist.
“I think I should present a more cheerful, bright, and happy tune, perhaps.”
She then continued, “There were times when I felt intimated due to my tone of voice.”
Dara further elaborated, “If you look at some of 2NE1’s sad songs, I didn’t have many parts. Since I had a high tone, the sad song sounded rather happy.”
However, her tone of voice didn’t hinder Dara to sing. She explained, “It’s my job to accept the tone I was born with and present it in a unique way that others can enjoy.
“I am trying to lower my tone a bit but I think my tone has a charm of its own.”
Furthermore, Dara expressed, “Although I have been a singer all these years, there’s not really a song that I can pick out and say it’s mine necessarily.”
Pointing out an acoustic genre song, Dara said, “I believe ‘One Step’ OST titled ‘One Step’ is a song that fits my image and voice perfectly.”
Meanwhile, Dara apologized to her Korean fans for being inactive in domestic activities.
“I am very sorry to my fans here in Korea for not being able active in domestic activities. I’ve had a lot of overseas activities that people would say that I’m an artist that just visits Korea. I’m proud of my fans who have waited a long time but I have a heavy heart. I missed everyone dearly.”
Are we going to hear the Korean version of her mega hit single “In or Out” soon? Well, we could wait for the list of tracks she has to announce. Who knows?
