Trying out the Hollywood dream seems to be the “in” thing nowadays for our local celebrities.
After Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino hinted that she’s doing a project in Hollywood recently, here comes former Miss World 2013 and actress Megan Young who confirms in an interview that she’s indeed leaving the country soon to try her luck in Hollywood.
According to Megan, she knew what she has to give up in order to pursue her Hollywood dream. She’s not expecting anything since she will be starting from the scratch. For her, it’s better to try her luck rather than think about what could have been and regret not trying it out at all.
Megan’s thankful with the support she’s been getting from her ALV Entertainment family (her management in the Philippines) as well as her agent in the US. Both talent management pushes and encourages her to pursue her desire to try her luck in Hollywood.
Among her future plans, Megan said she’ll be taking summer workshops and she also looks forward on further improving her English. She admits, “Mas sanay kasi akong magsalita ng Tagalog or Taglish. I also need to practice acting and speaking in English.”
Megan says trying her luck in Hollywood had always been at the back of her mind. “I wanted to do it while I’m still young and single. I’m already 27, if I won’t do it now, there my no longer be another chance to do so.”
She’s a believer in opportunity knocks only once in our lives. She says she better grab it now before it’s gone. Megan also says that she listens to her gut-feel. What her gut says usually tells her something. “It’s the same feeling I’ve had when I joined Miss World.”
Megan also doesn’t see her being a former beauty queen as an advantage in Hollywood. “I don’t think it’s going to be an advantage because I believe it depends more on your profile, if that character fits you. It’s better to merit the acting experience rather than m being a title holder.”
What else can we say? But the best of luck to Megan as she pursues her Hollywood dream! For the meantime, we can all catch Megan in One Mighty Yaya opening in theaters on May 10 with Ai Ai Delas Alas, Sofia Andres, Zoren Legaspi, and Beverly Salviejo.
