Kapuso actress and mayor Lani Mercado celebrated her 49th birthday yesterday, April 13.
The mayor of Bacoor, Cavite started the day by thanking God for “all His blessings despite the circumstances” through a Facebook post.
She added, “I always believe God doesn’t give you challenges in life that you can’t handle. God just wants to humble ourselves and go closer to Him. Father you have always been my source of strength and my refuge. Continue to guide me and strengthen me as I lead the City of Bacoor and my family.”
Lani then asked for her husband Bong Revilla’s freedom. She wrote: “I cry out to You as I wish for my husband’s freedom. Our justice system truly is testing our patience and endurance but it has been 2 yrs and almost 10 months since he has been incarcerated.”
Lastly, she wished to God to “equip our lawyers to execute the right steps and enlighten the judges handling my husband’s case.”
Bong Revilla allegedly involved in the Napoles pork barrel scam. It led Sandiganbayan to arrest him and four other co-accused on 20 June 2016. Bong surrendered before the anti-graft court and is currently detained at Camp Crame.
