What do you think would happen if Iza Calzado portrayed the role of Darna in 2005 instead of Angel Locsin?
Did you know that the Kapamilya actress was actually the first choice to play the iconic character for GMA Network’s version of “Darna”?
That’s what she revealed during her blogcon for the ABS-CBN primetime series “A Love To Last” on March 29.
“That’s my story. I was asked to be Darna even before Angel was asked.
“Let us not forget that I have lost a hundred pounds, my body is not a conventional body,” she said, relating to her 200 pounds body back then.
Iza then clarified that she loves her body despite its ‘imperfections.’
She elaborated, “I’m not saying it’s not nice because I will fight for this. I worked hard for this. It’s nice, it’s mine, I love it. It takes a little bit of effort to love it, but I love it nonetheless.”
But the role was eventually given to Angel Locsin, and skyrocketed the actress to stardom.
Now that Angel Locsin withdrew from being Darna, Iza’s name was also mentioned as possible candidates for the role.
